Can I replace my Ducted RV Roof Air Conditioner with a TurboKool unit and will it work through the existing ducting?
Good question, the central A/C ducted system used in RVs now seems like a good idea but I believe you lose between 10-15% efficiency running the airflow through the ceiling, but every trailer & system is different.
The vent louvers in the TurboKool ceiling assembly are adjustable and you can manually close them to push most of the airflow through the ceiling.
I'm not sure how well it will work, you would have to test it.
You might be able to customize the existing openings through the roof with a heater vent grill for RVs or houses (check your local hardware store), I would suggest plastic because of the moisture in the air from the TurboKool unit.
That way you could remove a louver or 2 from the TurboKool unit ceiling assembly & manually close off the openings so all the air blows inside. This way it's all manual but you could direct the air through the roof or straight into the trailer.
Or you could cover the ducted opening at the 14" hole in the roof and force all the air down through our ceiling assembly.
